Settings
Configure defaults for the platform and per-process settings for simulations.
TP-Cloud has two kinds of settings:
- General settings (account-level defaults used across tools)
- Process settings (stored with each process and used during process calculations and display)
General settings
General settings are available from the Settings page in the dashboard. They define your default unit choices across the platform.
- Unit system: Sets your default unit system (for example SI vs. other systems) used as the starting point across tools.
- Default composition unit: Default basis (mass fractions or mole fractions) used when entering compositions.
- Default property unit: Default basis (mass or mole) used for properties such as enthalpy/entropy in the Property Calculator and other tools. This governs if enthalpy is displayed J/kg or J/mol.
These settings are saved to your account and will be reused when you return.
Process settings
Process settings are configured inside the process editor via the Settings button. They apply only to that process.
Ambient
- Ambient temperature and ambient pressure define the reference environment used for calculations that depend on ambient conditions (for example work/exergy-related calculations).
Output units
These override the general settings for this specific process.
Display
- Animate stream edges: Toggles animation on stream connections.
- Color streams by: Color streams by a chosen property (for example temperature, pressure, or mass flow).
Which settings take precedence?
- General settings define defaults across the platform.
- For a process, process settings override general settings when viewing results and performing process calculations for that process.
