Safety Checks - Overview

The TP-Cloud software includes safety checks that warn users when unwanted phases may form (become thermodynamically stable). Currently, it predicts the stability of key solid phases, such as ice, dry ice and hydrates, and free water. Future versions will also include checks for other solids such as sulfur as well as acidic liquid phases.

Safety checks appear in several tools:

• In Process Simulations, these checks help identify conditions where unwanted phases may form and block flow.
• The Property Calculator shows if solids are stable at the selected conditions.
• The Phase Diagrams display where solids become stable as temperature or pressure changes.
