Examples & Tutorials
We want to make it easy for you to build your own processes, but also to see what the process simulator is capable of, and maybe get some new ideas. We have therefore created several process examples.
Many of the examples are taken from published literature, some are developed together with our AI solutions, and others are simply made to illustrate specific capabilities, such as simulation of hydrate and dry ice formation.
The processes we have set up are not perfect in any sense, so please feel free to propose improvements, or send us new process examples that you think should be part of the list. We expect the list of relevant examples to grow, and our goal is that there will soon be a high probability that you can find a relevant example to use as a starting point for your own process.
Using an example as a starting point
Open an example from the examples list to read what it does and see its flowsheet. Anyone can browse and open the examples, including before they have an account.
Press Open in viewer to see the flowsheet itself. It opens read-only, so you can inspect every unit, stream and result without changing anything. The viewer needs a wide window, so open the page on a laptop or desktop.
Once you are signed in, Copy and edit puts a copy of the example in your own Library and opens it in the editor. From there it behaves like any other process: change the feed, swap the equation of state, add units, and solve.
Categories
We have categorized the process examples as follows:
- Hydrogen: Hydrogen production, purification, compression, liquefaction, storage and use.
- LNG: Natural-gas liquefaction, cryogenic processing, refrigeration and LNG handling.
- CCS: CO2 capture, conditioning, compression, transport and related processes.
- Fuels: Hydrocarbon, synthetic and renewable fuel processing and production.
- Chemicals: Production and processing of chemicals and industrial feedstocks.
- Energy: Cooling, heating, heat recovery, power cycles, data centers and other energy systems.
- Materials: Metals, minerals, batteries and other material-processing industries.
- Water: Water treatment, desalination, wastewater and water-intensive processes.
- Separation: Distillation, absorption, extraction, flashing and other separation processes.
- Thermodynamics: Phase behavior, properties, equilibria and advanced thermodynamic calculations.
Tutorials
Interactive, and free, tutorials will soon become available in the public version of the software, so that you can learn how to use it before you get a login.
Until then, How to build a process walks through the same ground in text.
