Component splitter

Split components selectively into two outlet streams.

The component splitter is modeled as an isothermal unit operation.

Inputs

  • Fluid package: Fluid package supplying compositions for the inlet stream.
  • Pressure Drop: Optional pressure loss through the splitter (non-negative number).
  • Exergy Efficiency (%): Optional exergy-efficiency factor (default 100). This is a scaling factor for the reversible work requirement, which equals the change in Gibbs energy.
  • upSplitFractions: Component selectivities for upper outlet stream, i.e. fractions of each specie that is sent to the "up" outlet. Must be a number between 0 and 1 (inclusive). Example: If you put it 0 for water and 1 for all other components, the upper stream will have no water and the bottom stream will be pure water.

Outputs

  • Two outlet streams whose component make-up follows the given selectivities while preserving overall mass balance.
